Greetings! Halloween is just around the corner and I decided to pick a fitting tale just for the occasion. Episode 5 of my series of live readings is now up on YouTube in the Stories from Dead Scribes playlist. I did a reading of Washington Irving’s perennial classic short story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”. This was a challenging read: a single sitting reading for an hour and fifteen minutes, no chapters, lots and lots of run-on sentences that can get confusing (rules were different writing in the 1820s) and encountering many ancient words that we no longer use today. I looked them up beforehand, of course, for pronunciation and meaning, but in the flow of things, I freeze up and forget the correct pronunciation at times, so it’s not a perfect reading by any means. Still damn proud of it though, but be advised that I do fumble a couple of times throughout, but that’s one of the pitfalls of doing live readings. In any case, it’s a fun tale that should be read/heard at least once if your experience of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow has only been through the beloved 1949 Walt Disney cartoon or the 1999 Tim Burton film. Please bookmark the Stories from Dead Scribes playlist and subscribe to my channel to be notified whenever I post new readings. Until next time, enjoy!
